Image details

IC1396 and the Elephant’s Trunk Nebula is a concentration of interstellar gas and dust located in the constellation Cepheus about 2,400 light years away from Earth. This is a bicolor Ha/OIII image. I’m working on a new technique to combine channels with pixel math in order to create an “SHO feeling” on bicolor images.

5h50min of exposure with a ZenithStar66 refractor, a Moravian CCD cameras G2-8300, and Astrodon Filters (Ha 5nm, OIII 5nm).
